NOTE: Casts will be 20-35 people plus approximately 10 people on the directing team.  During tech and performances, the orchestra will add up to an additional 16 people as well as approximately 10 additional tech and crew members backstage.
Please take these numbers under consideration when choosing to audition.

  • Video Auditions

    • HIGHLY encouraged! If you are not sure about your comfort level with groups of people, please submit a video audition.

    • Submitted HERE and completed by midnight on Thursday April 15.  Video auditions will not be accepted after this date/time.

    • Check out some Video Audition Tips and Tricks

  • The is a max of 50 audition spots per hour to meter the flow of auditionees in the building.  Check in begins 30 minutes prior to your assigned audition time.

  • Masks are required throughout the audition process per the order from JOCO and the KS Governor. You MUST wear a mask to enter the Arts and Heritage Center.

TIP will provide "clear shields" for you to wear for the vocal and dance audition. Please KEEP the clear shield we provide in case you are called back. You will be asked to wear it during your callback. These clear shields are the same that every cast member will wear during performances if we find ourselves in a place that the JOCO Health Department requires them at the time of performance for each production.

If you do not feel comfortable wearing a clear shield for auditions, please consider auditioning by video (see above.) If you feel that you would NOT be comfortable performing in a clear shield (should the need arise), please wait to audition until next season.

  • There will be no holding room. All auditionees will wait in the creative commons to allow for more social distancing.

    • Please limit the number of additional people who attend auditions with you.  The building will be open for business and events may be taking place. Social distancing is still encouraged in the Arts & Heritage Center.

  • Singing audition: Auditionees will enter on the North side of the black box, sing center stage, and exit on the south side of the black box.

    • The next group of ten auditionees will sit socially distanced in the hallway and the high touch areas will be wiped down by volunteers on a schedule. Auditionees only in the waiting area hallway.

    • Even though the black box is a larger space than the room where auditions have been in the past, the directing teams have been limited to three members from each team to reduce the number of total people in the space.  Their tables will be socially distanced.

  • Dance audition: Highly encouraged, but optional as always.

    • Dance auditions will be held in the dance studio this year.  Chairs will be lined up and socially distanced along the museum wall outside of the dance studio.  Auditionees only in the waiting area hallway.

    • The dance has been shortened to four eight counts.

    • Choreography teams have been limited to two members from each team and an instructor to teach the dance has been selected.

Click HERE for a full view of the Master Rehearsal Calendar.

Everyone is required to participate in the vocal portion of the audition.

Please be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song from a modern musical (not a song from the Outdoor Summer Season). We'll provide the accompanist for your vocal audition, but you need to bring the sheet music (in the proper key) with you for your song. Please mark a clear start and stop point for the Accompanist.

The dance portion of the Audition is optional, but recommended.

A short dance number will be taught in groups of approximately 10 and performed on site. Choreographers are not looking for perfection, but will take note of performer's skill level and ability to take direction.

You may submit a video audition up until midnight on Thursday, April 15.

Video auditions will be accepted by posting a video online and providing us with the web address of that video. Audition videos should include 16 measures of singing and be less than 60 seconds in total length. No performance reels will be viewed by the directing teams.  Please be sure your video is set to "public viewing" so that the production teams can access the content.  DropBox and Google Drive are not accessible through our WIFI, but any other video service should be accessible.  Video Audition Tips and Tricks
