Director's Note:
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown really is a collection of snap shots of the life and goings-on’s of Charlie and his group of friends. Fun, charming, and delightful, the show moves quickly and quirk-ily in and out of musical numbers and snappy dialogue – much like the comic strip that has burned all of these loveable characters into our collective memories.
Is this life changing musical theatre? Uh… probably not. But certainly it is a quick escape from whatever ails you, and is an entertaining romp through the world of a little boy’s ups-and-downs as he navigates the trials and tribulations of pre-adolescence.
Clark Gesner, the writer of the show says it best:
"None of the cast is actually six years old. And they don't really look like Charles Schulz' "Peanuts" cartoon characters. But this doesn't seem to make that much difference once we are into the play, because what they are saying to each other is with the openness of that early childhood time, and the obvious fact is that they are all really quite fond of each other."
—Clark Gesner
So while the characters in this show are “kids” – the actors playing those kids will be adults. Actors in their late 20s and above will be cast.
Actors of ALL ETHNIC AND RACIAL BACKGROUNDS are encouraged to audition. We are seeking a diverse cast!
All members of the cast should be excellent singers and “movers” with the exception of the character of SNOOPY – who should not only be an excellent singer, but also have excellent dance ability (gymnastic ability would be a bonus – but is not required.)
PLEASE NOTE: The rehearsal period for this production is MUCH shorter than is common for TTIP. Please check the master rehearsal schedule for exact rehearsal dates. While conflicts will not preclude you from being cast, ALL CONFLICTS must be stated on your audition sheet. Short of emergency situations, additional conflicts after casting will not be accommodated.
