Director's Note:

Legally Blonde: The Musical offers theatergoers an evening of guilty pleasure fun that should not be missed.  Yes, it is another musical based on a movie.  Yes, it features a pop-score that attracts the Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift crowd in droves.  And yes, at times it can be as superficial as Paris Hilton.  But look beyond the stereotypes, the comically witty dialogue and the occasional use of legal jargon and you’ll find a show about one thing: being yourself and never letting others knock you down because of it.

I am thrilled to be working on another show at the Park with Liz Ernst as choreographer, Adam Wisnieski as stage manager and Todd Hoover-Holthus and Phillip Hoover-Holthus handling costumes and props.  We have collaborated on many projects including recent TTIP shows: Footloose, Wedding Singer, All Shook Up and Aida. I am equally excited to welcome park veteran, Laura VanLeeuwen to our team handling the vocal direction and conducting duties.
It is our goal to assemble a dynamic cast of approximately 40 individuals.  High level singing, dancing and acting will be required by most of the cast.  There are a few roles that will require only minimal dance.  Most of the cast will be comprised of actors between the ages of 16 – 30; however there are some featured roles for actors over 30.  Our rehearsal process will consist of predominately weekend rehearsals.  A complete rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions.

Legally Blonde: The Musical is a fresh and fast paced evening of musical fun, stylishly wrapped up in a smart pink bow.  Elle Woods is the college sweetheart and homecoming queen who doesn’t take no for an answer.  So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone ‘serious’, Elle puts down the credit cards, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law School.  Along the way, Elle proves that “being true to yourself never goes out of style.”

Hope to see you at auditions,

Greg Shaw
Director
