After taking a short hiatus from theatre, Tammy Ruder reentered the world of theatre when her children started performing. Instead of just dropping the kids off, she stayed and helped. She and her children have been involved in 15 productions together since their start in 1999 with Wyandotte Players production of "Oliver!" Tammy has been part of The Theatre in the Park for the last eight years. She started with "Peter Pan" in 2000 as the "mom in charge" or "head mom". She progressed to Stage Manager for "Mame" in 2001 and "The Wizard of Oz" in 2004. She was Assistant Director for "Gypsy" in 2005. She directed "The King and I" in 2006 and "The Music Man" in 2007. She was the Assistant Director and Stage Manager for "42nd Street" in 2008. Last year she spent her summer with 64 teenagers directing Disney's "High School Musical." She has filled many different roles for theatrical productions at many different theatres and high schools around town: director, assistant director, stage manager, actress, set design, costumes and props. Her directing credits also include "The Sound of Music" and "The Wizard of Oz". Tammy is excited to direct "Annie." "I've waited a long time for this show to become available. I love working with all ages of actors. I also like to live my life by the motto "You're never fully dressed without a smile." Tammy is currently the Director of Cultural Arts at the Jewish Community Center, where she is also the producer of the first KC Superstar, an American Idol type event for high school students in the Kansas City area. |
