Philip Kinen
"Jesus Christ Superstar" is the ninth production that Philip has directed for The Theatre in the Park. Phil also directed "Cats,", another Andrew Lloyd Webber musical at TTIP, for which he received Demmi Awards for Best Director and Best Production. Other Theatre in the Park productions include "Fiddler on the Roof," "Cinderella," "Annie," two different productions of "The Wizard of Oz," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," and "Footloose," for which he also received the Best Director and Best Production Demmi Awards. Prior to directing musical productions at The Theatre in the Park, Philip served as TTIP's Artistic Director where he supervised and programmed over fifty musical productions.

Other past productions Philip has directed include "Sweeney Todd," "Hair," "Side Show," "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "Cabaret," "The Wiz," and a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" that was presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Philip wrote and directed "A Very Scarrie Carrie Christmas Carol" for Late Night Theatre, which received a critically acclaimed revival during the 2006 holiday season and was awarded Best Funny Play of 2007. In October, 2010, he is slated to again direct "Sweeney Todd" for Padgett Productions at Union Station.

Philip is an event designer and owns his own company, Big Show, Inc. He has created numerous event and experience designs for many non-profit and corporate organizations. He is especially noted for his creation of the wildly successful "Bloom Goes to Rio" and "Bloom Goes Wild, Wild West" event for the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and the River Market Art Festivals. This year, Philip co-produced the provocative film "Night Is the Mirror", with Kansas City's modern cabaret band, Alacartoona. Philip is also active in the development and promotion of downtown Kansas City and serves on the board of Arts Alive.
